Otago Centred on the educational and cultural city of Dunedin, and includes the towns of Alexandra, Cromwell, Ranfurly and Roxburgh. In the west of the region can be found the toursit meccas of Queenstown and Wanaka.

Southland Includes the city of Invercargill, remote Stewart Island, and a rugged coastline with isolated beaches.
